Rideauwood Achieves a Major Milestone – Accreditation with Commendation

Ottawa, Ontario

Rideauwood Addiction and Family Services is excited to announce that it has been awarded Accreditation with Commendation by Accreditation Canada, an independent, not-for-profit organization that sets quality and safety in health care, accrediting health organizations in Canada and around the world.

In November 2022, Accreditation Canada surveyors assessed all aspects of the organization against national standards. They evaluated clinical and administrative processes at all levels of the organization. Interviews with clients, staff, management, volunteers and sector partners revealed an organization dedicated to quality and safety in health care. In particular, surveyors praised the organization’s efforts to provide client-centered care.

“There is a strong sense of pride and great achievement in receiving this designation. These results from Accreditation Canada are a confirmation of our longstanding and ongoing commitment to the provision of safe, quality, client-centered care to those we serve,” says Johanne Levesque, Rideauwood’s Executive Director.

In 2020, Rideauwood began voluntarily participating in the accreditation process to improve the quality of the services provided to clients and their families. At the time, Rideauwood achieved Accreditation Primer status with the intention of undergoing the full accreditation evaluation within a two-year time frame. Having fulfilled its intention, the organization will continue its quality improvement journey.

“Accreditation with Commendation is a clear measure of the excellent work done at Rideauwood every day,’’ affirms Jennifer Ellis, Chair of the Board of Directors. “I would like to congratulate and thank every member of the Rideauwood team and extend my heartfelt thanks to all that helped contribute to this major milestone.’’
