How to Leave a Gift in Your Will or Estate Plan

A Gift Through Your Will
A bequest is a donation in your Will that is distributed by your estate after your death.
After your death, when your executor distributes your estate, Rideauwood will issue an official tax receipt for the amount received.
Beneficiary of a Life Insurance Policy
The gift of life insurance is a convenient and affordable way to make a substantial future gift to Rideauwood.
There are several options including transferring the ownership of a new or existing policy to Rideauwood Addiction and Family Services or naming Rideauwood as the beneficiary of a policy. Each option has a variety of benefits. Please discuss them with your insurance advisor.
Beneficiary of a Registered Account
If you do not have a surviving spouse or “qualified beneficiary” you may want to consider donating all or a portion of your remaining RRSP or RRIF at the time of your death to a Rideauwood. You can also name Rideauwood as the beneficiary on a TFSA account. If you designate Rideauwood as a beneficiary of a registered account, Rideauwood will issue an official receipt for the amount transferred.
Rideauwood Addiction and Family Services can be named as a beneficiary under your RRSP, RRIF or TFSA or you can leave directions in your Will to donate all or part of your RRSP, RRIF or TFSA. Your financial advisor can provide more details on these options.
