FOUR DAY FAMILY PROGRAM

| OBJECTIVES: |
| . To develop an understanding of
chemical dependency and its effect on family members through a program
of education and counselling. |
| . To assist the family member to recognize
their own need for assistance in dealing effectively with the effects
of chemical dependency in the family. |
| . To motivate the family member to establish
a support network with other group members, and through self-help
groups. |
| . To assist the family member in
developing their own recovery plan. |

| Family members attend for four full days (9:00 a.m.
- 4:15 p.m.). The Program consists of lectures, videos, group counselling,
and experiential learning exercises. The focus is on chemical dependency
from the perspective of the family member. Clients also learn stress
and relaxation techniques and begin to make changes to establish
a healthier lifestyle. |

| A Counsellor's Aide is assigned for each program.
Clients are encouraged to use this person for additional support. |

| Upon completion of this portion of the Family Member
Program, weekly group counselling and individual counselling is
provided. |
