Fundraising
for the road to recovery
Every Spring individuals
from all walks of life, ages, and ethnic backgrounds come together
for a common cause. Raising awareness and funds "for the road

Ottawa a safer and healthier community.

Not sure why you should support an agency that works with
alcohol and drug addicts?
Here are some reasons:
-
Treatment works. With help, addicts of any age
can turn their lives around and become healthy productive individuals.
-
With help, family members can learn to cope
more effectively, whether their addicted spouse/child/parent
gets into treatment, or not. (50% of our programs are for family
members).
-
All this leads to less stressful living environments,
better relationships, better parenting, and often, fewer future
addicts.
-
Addiction affects everybody! There is a direct
correlation between addiction treatment and reduced hospital
costs, reduced crime rates, fewer school dropouts, lower #s
needing welfare assistance, safer roads, more productive work
forces, etc. The list could go on and on.
-
The funding Rideauwood gets from the Ontario
Government is not enough. When an addict is ready to change
they need to be seen immediately. This doesn't happen. Rideauwood
relies heavily on fundraising, to reduce time on the waiting
lists, provide longer, more effective service, and to expand
services wherever possible to meet the ever growing need.
