RELAPSE PREVENTION/SUPPORT
GROUP FOR MEN AND WOMEN IN RECOVERY
|
| |
| The Opportunity: |
| Rideauwood has always recognized the need for long
term treatment and support in recovery experience indicates that
the longer a person stays involved in a recovery group, the better
their chances of maintaining abstinence. Unfortunately, cutbacks
have forced Rideauwood to shorten the length of our Ministry of
Health funded program to put more resources at the front end of
treatment, but our philosophy has not changed. Therefore, we are
pleased to offer, for a modest cost, a new group designed for people
who have already experienced some treatment and want to extend their
time in a counsellor led, open-ended therapy/support group. This
mix of successful Rideauwood clients combined with clients looking
for aftercare from other shorter or out-of-town treatment centers
will focus on deeper recovery issues and relapse prevention. |
| |
| The Criteria: |
| This group is open to men and women of all ages who
have completed a counsellor- led treatment program within the last
year and are willing to attend group regularly to work on their
issues. |
| |
| The Facilitator: |
| This group will be led by John Fife, (B.A.) who has
over 10 years experience in chemical dependency counselling and
related counselling issues. |
| |
| The Time &
Place: |
| The group meets at Rideauwood on Tuesday nights from
7:00 - 8:30 p.m. |
| |
| The Cost: |
| Sliding fee scale according to income - maximum $25.00
per session for clients earning over $60,000 annually. Clients will
be asked to commit to a minimum of three months by paying for three
months up front or providing three postdated cheques. No client
is refused. If money is a problem tell us . |
| |
| Program Description: |
| The group's format will be flexible, depending on
the individual and collective needs of group members. This could
include talking about such issues as identifying relapse triggers,
establishing healthy relationships, learning to be assertive, handling
anger, building confidence, gaining insight into codependency and/or
family of origin issues, as well as topics of the group members'
own choosing. |
