WHO IS THIS PROGRAM FOR?
The Youth and Young Adult (18-24) Substance Abuse Treatment Program offers youth a confidential, therapeutic and supportive environment to explore issues related to their use of alcohol and other drugs. The program provides a comprehensive assessment, individual and group counselling, education and a parallel program for parents.
HOW WILL THIS PROGRAM HELP?
Motivational Substance Abuse Counselling:
Ongoing assessment and individual counselling are provided to youth who are experiencing personal challenges in their life affected by their drug and alcohol use. Motivational counselling is a method that is collaborative, client centered and goal oriented encouraging behavioral changes in youth. Youth are encouraged to explore and integrate their strengths and abilities to problem solve issues related to their substance abuse.
Continuing Care Program:
Youth and Young adults who have attended an inpatient residential substance abuse program as well as those youth working on personal recovery issues are encouraged to continue to work on their treatment goals by means of individual and group counselling. Other treatment modalities that are integrated into counselling include but are not limited to Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Relapse Prevention and Traumatic Stress counselling.
How does the Program Work?
- Youth/Young Adult Phone Intake.
- Parent Phone Intake if recommended.
- Psycho-Social Assessment/Recommendations for Treatment Options.
- Weekly or Bi-Weekly individual counselling.
- Parent Program: Family Spiral (2 evening education sessions); P.E.A.K program.
Youth and Young Adults may contact Rideauwood at 613-724-4881 to book and appointment for a telephone intake interview with a Rideauwood Intake Worker.
A telephone intake interview will be approximately 20 to 30 minutes.
Parents and Family members are encouraged to be involved when appropriate in the Parent Program and asked to complete a phone intake and family information package.
